Here is an interesting deburring case from our customer Dalca, Brazil. A robot is used to grind and deburr castings. All machining operations were programmed in SprutCAM X Robot. MachineMaker, the zero code digital twin builder that comes with our CAM system, was used to create the 3D digital twin of the entire robotic cell.

Here is a more detailed description of the machining process done in the robotic cell:

  1. Castings are placed in positioning fixtures on the 2-station rotary table.
  2. Robot cell operation is initiated by the operator on the controller.
  3. The robot picks up the part from the turntable and performs grinding against a diamond grinding wheel.
  4. The robot deburrs the parts.
  5. Robot places finished parts back on the turntable for the operator to pick up.

In SprutCAM X Robot, deburring is programmed by setting the chamfering operation.

Chamfering is a machining operation that involves generating a chamfering trajectory along specified edges, chamfers, or fillets on a 3D model. Manufacturers use this operation as a finishing touch for edge beveling or chamfering along part edges formed after milling processes.

One significant advantage of the chamfering operation in SprutCAM X Robot is its ability to precisely machine chamfers without causing damage to the regions of the part that do not require chamfering.

Our CAM system provides various tool options for chamfering, including cylindrical end mills, conical mills, and spherical mills. This versatility allows manufacturers to choose the most suitable tool for their specific requirements, enhancing the quality and efficiency of the process.

Dalca offers robotized cells for material finishing, processes such as deburring, grinding, polishing etc.
