There are 2 main ways to program robots: offline and online

Online programming
(or teach-in programming)

Is performed by the operator or programmer directly at the installation site of the robot. Using the control panel or manual movement, the tool is sequentially approached to the required points in space. The input of machining parameters for the specified point is carried out using the robot controller.

In the process of online programming, the robot is not able to perform any operations, and the time spent on online programming, even operations of medium complexity, can reach several days. This programming method is suitable mainly for mass production of the same type of products.

Offline programming (OLP)

Is carried out on a separate PC using specialized software capable of simulating the machining on a digital model of a specific robot. With digital twin technology, you can continue to use a real robot at a production site without disrupting the manufacturing process while the next executable mashining program is being developed in an external CAD/CAM/OLP system.

Using OLP, a new machining program is launched on the robot in just a few hours, which are only required to set it up in real production conditions.
