Intuitive CAM for self-made CNC machine

I’m Alex, an automation/robotics engineer. I’m also an avid machining hobbyist, I enjoy designing, building and problem solving.

Like many others I’ve built my own CNC milling machine.

In terms of CAM software, SprutCAM X has been fantastic. It’s intuitive, adaptive and most importantly quick to go from model to g-code.

It’s allowed me to import a model of my own self-designed mill so simulations are more realistic. I’ve been able to customize the post processor in order to output for the TinyG controller. It’s allowed me to quickly and easily machine parts for many projects!

I believe, SprutCAM X is fantastic for hobbyists, with an aboundance of tutorials and videos, it’s easy for anyone to take their model to a machined part!
