Metal printing with KUKA robot
28 4 月, 2023
Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, has revolutionized the way we produce objects. While plastic and concrete are the most commonly used materials, metal is also gaining popularity as a material of choice for 3D printing.
Recently, a group of engineers from China with the help of our colleagues (Chen is one of them) has demonstrated the capabilities of metal 3D printing using a KUKA robot and rotary positioner. They were able to create a complex screw using additive operations in SprutCAM X Robot.
This breakthrough is significant because metal printing has several advantages over traditional manufacturing methods. It allows for greater design flexibility, reduces material waste, and can produce objects with greater strength and durability.
As the field of 3D printing continues to grow, we can expect to see more innovations in the use of different materials and techniques. The possibilities for this technology are truly endless, and we are only beginning to scratch the surface of what is possible.
